Electric buses

We now have over 150 electric buses in our network, operating from 5 new charging depots.

That’s over half the fleet, used by two thirds of Leicester’s bus users! This will reduce around 7,000 tonnes of CO2 pollution every year.

An overall investment of over £70m in Leicester’s bus network.

Each new electric bus has these new features:

• on-board visual displays giving continuous service updates

• next stop audio announcements

• induction hearing loop at every wheelchair space and priority seat

• USB charging

• distinctive ‘electric’ green branding

Each new electric bus route also has battery-powered bus stop displays showing predicted arrival times.
